Science Musuem

Yesterday we took a trip to the Baltimore Science Museum. I was nervous about going solo, but found the place was empty! The boys owned the joint for at least the first hour!
Ethan got to experiment with static electricity.
Quite amused by his hair!
Aunt Tina, he's going to LOVE your upcoming circuits jr. kit gift!!!!!
He had to be pulled away from the circuit boards. (Gavin didn't share his enthusiasm and was on the run. See, I had reason to be nervous!)
They attended a presentation on Liquid Nitrogen. Gavin stayed seated the whole time. And Ethan, he raised his hand and answered every question the presenter asked. Whether he knew the answer or not.
"Does anyone know who Beaker is?" (Holding a beaker of nitrogen)
E: "Beaker is a drink that's just for grown ups."
The highlight was the pulley excercise.
The runner up was a tug of war machine!

The perfect morning ended with a picnic on the pier.

I'm going to miss days like this when Ethan starts kindergarten in the fall!

Cooking Lessons with Daddy: Strawberry Shortcake

First Chris gave lessons on proper use of the knife, Ethan was THRILLED to use the "black, really, really sharp ones!!!"

They were so proud of their creations!!!
They said it was yummy!

I wouldn't know, I don't like whipped cream!

Again, another reason they are the luckiest to have their awesome Daddy!!!

Sweetest spot on the couch...

must be Gavin's lap.

Washington Trip Wipe Out

This morning Gavin and I took a train ride to DC. Being downtown made him want to sleep, it made me want to get my suit and heels back out!

I LOVE this face.

Gone Fishing!

Yesterday James, a fellow officer and friend, took our family out for a fishing trip (and lesson). None of the boys, including Chris!) had been fishing and I hadn't since about the age of 10 (and that was putting a hot dog on a hook my parents had strung for me off our dock in FL). Without James, we'd be needing to watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to teach our boys how to fish. And as they own every magnetic pole and fish set out there and are always begging to go, it was about time!
Enough backstory, here's the fun stuff. And boy, did we have a blast!
Ethan serenaded the guys with his favorite preschool hits while on the boat.
Gavin looked real brave on land. But that ended once he realized there was no room for mommy in the boat and he had to leave her at shore!? Needless to say they turned that boat around quick.
The lone fish (we were the at the wrong time of day) caught by James.
It didn't help matters that Ethan is a sudden environmentalist and wouldn't stand for anyone using live bait.
I happily blame our recent bedtime readings of Charlotte's Web! He's taking after his heroine Fern who saved the runt from her father's ax!
Correction, we did have one huge catch. Look at that stick I reeled in!

Highlight for us parents? The quiet drive home!

Thanks James!
