Kids at Knoebels!

This past weekend we visited Chris's family in PA and immediately surprised the boys by driving straight to Knoebels Amusement Park. This place is AMAZING!!! Tons of little kids rides, free admission, cheap and yummy food, and no lines for the rides! Boys liked the ride, sure, ride it again, NOW!
We bought Ethan his (cheap!) unlimited ride pass and Chris and him jumped on a ride as we planned.
Suddenly Gavin started frantically signing "please!!" pointing to the rides, "E-an! E-an!" Oops. I think we should have bought two.
From then on the boys rode together for hours, as long as brother was by his side, Gavin showed no fear. And Ethan HAS no fear so they were a fun combo.
(Seriously, no fear. He rode the Haunted House with Daddy, a smaller roller coaster, and all adult rides he could meet the height requirement for. THAT he gets from his Daddy!)

No Fear/Fear
That is a blurry shot of Ethan spontaneously kissing Gavin's hand mid-ride!! Awww!
Grandma snuck some Gavin kisses too!
Bonus PA trip pics:
A random bear spotting between the Amish carriages!
And after a weekend of swimming, rides, and family fun, this was Ethan the drive home:

Baseball + Boys Who Need a Nap= Uh-Oh

Following Father's Day tradition (revisit 2012 here), Chris took his sons to a local baseball game for Father's Day. This year I got to join as it was Gavin's first time to the ballpark combined with Chris needing his cane as he's getting used to his new hip.

One of Chris's favorite fellow dads, "Uncle D," joined us for the occasion!

Gavin was too enthralled by the game to look at the camera?
"Can you believe that call!?"
Suddenly...
reality hit.

The boys realized it was NAPTIME.

And they were at the ball park.
Instead of their beds.

We had made the VERY rare call of ignoring their nap time to make the only baseball game in the region.

And things were rapidly going downhill.

In classic Father's Day form, Chris put the needs of his sons ahead of his own and we headed home.

At least there was beer and basketball waiting for the big guys after we out the boys to bed.

Happy Father's Day to the dad who always puts his family first!

Great Start to Father's Day Weekend

Walking to breakfast at First Watch.

"Truck Touch" in DC with longtime friends the Thomas's!

Ethan built a helicopter at the Home Depot station.

Climbed aboard a police motorcycle (bucket list goal completed!).

Then the boys climbed aboard the police helicopter they had watched land! (MAJOR Ethan bucket list item!!)

Great weather. Great day. Great Daddy.

Date Night: Painting Under the Stars

Last night Chris and I enjoyed an elusive date night at a local art studio! They hosted a painting class with wine on a downtown rooftop where a jazz band played for us. Needless to say, this was totally my pick- but Chris was game!

The part that made it great? Bought it with a Groupon. Part that made it perfect? The company!

You don't need a working hip Daddy...

To snuggle and read to me all day!

I don't know which of us it's enjoying Chris's company more!
