It doesn't matter if you win or lose...

It's how you play the game! 

The boys have enthusiastically discovered our old Wii Mario Cart. I have to figure out what limits are appropriate as I wasn't ready for video gamers yet!

But the cutest part is they can't tell who wins yet, and they don't care! They encourage each other and the friends that come to play.  Applauding other's fast speed and giggling at their own crashes and stumbles.

I almost blew it and explained the scoring and luckily Chris stopped me. "Let's enjoy this while it lasts." He's right.

Gavin the Rhino Rescuer

We discovered a hero was amongst us many months ago.  NPR was playing in the car with a story on the rhino ivory trade. I didn't realize they were listening to the discussion of the conservationists efforts to save the rhinos from poachers. 
Until I heard Gavin exclaim from the backseat "I AM A WHINO WESCUER!!"

We didn't know what had been sparked by this little moment. He has created elaborate stories of how he's "wescued the winos in Abika."  He's sung lullabies to them out his bedroom window, watched out the windows on long drives to spot one in trouble, and is always ready to jump in a helicopter to rescue one in need.

I had to write a note to his new teacher to let her know of his secret identity so he wasn't met with a puzzled stare. 

I adore his imagination and theatrical commitment!

And the snow days begin!

It took a while...But the first school week back from school hasn't had much school! Maybe 3 inches of snow with a wind chill factor down to -10 at night.  The first snow day, a blast. But the next day with cleared roads and no snow, we bundled up for the walk to school.

Uhhh...where are the buses whizzing by?  Quick check on my phone, yup school opening is delayed.

We had the gear on so might as well build a fort!

At least he got to school later right? Nope, they later cancelled the whole day.

How Bout Dem Cowboys?!

It's hard to get a good shot around here as they are always in motion when there's a football around!  All three boys have been high on yesterday's win and played catch and tackled in their jerseys. As Gavin spontaneously exclaims, "GOOOOOOOOO COWBOYS!"

Happy Little Fish

Today was the first day of the boys new swim lessons. I found one where Ethan can go solo with the big kids and Gavin and I can do a toddler session simultaneously. Holy cow were they giddy to go swimming in winter! Thank you Pops for the lessons!

Science Museum Sillies

Here's some highlights of our visit to the Maryland Science Museum today. We've gotten our money's worth from this (Groupon!) family membership!  Bonuses...No accidents and a quiet car ride home!
