Yesterday James, a fellow officer and friend, took our family out for a fishing trip (and lesson). None of the boys, including Chris!) had been fishing and I hadn't since about the age of 10 (and that was putting a hot dog on a hook my parents had strung for me off our dock in FL). Without James, we'd be needing to watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to teach our boys how to fish. And as they own every magnetic pole and fish set out there and are always begging to go, it was about time!
Enough backstory, here's the fun stuff. And boy, did we have a blast!
Ethan serenaded the guys with his favorite preschool hits while on the boat.
Gavin looked real brave on land. But that ended once he realized there was no room for mommy in the boat and he had to leave her at shore!? Needless to say they turned that boat around quick.
The lone fish (we were the at the wrong time of day) caught by James.
It didn't help matters that Ethan is a sudden environmentalist and wouldn't stand for anyone using live bait.
I happily blame our recent bedtime readings of Charlotte's Web! He's taking after his heroine Fern who saved the runt from her father's ax!
Correction, we did have one huge catch. Look at that stick I reeled in!
Highlight for us parents? The quiet drive home!
Thanks James!
